Kal Rieman Takes Over Lexington Ave.

May 3, 2012 By lionesquemedia Leave a Comment

I know you guys all stopped by Kal Rieman’s pop-up store on Lexington Avenue tonight because it seemed like every fashion forward interested human being was there.  The clean, stylish and sophisticated look was overwhelmingly inviting to all New Yorkers and travelers.

Okay so now let’s move on to the best part… the beautiful collection. The entire collection was based on all chic and comfortable clothing with fun polka dot prints and beautiful red Spring color accents.  It felt like 5th avenue in the Spring all over again and nobody could resist that!  The faces of excitement and curiosity towards the garments were epic and irresistible to capture.

Everyone enjoyed the collection and couldn’t stop saying how beautiful, exciting, comfortable and original it was.  One lovely new client even stated how it brought her back and it made her feel young and beautiful.  So thanks Kal for creating a collection all women can enjoy and feel beautiful in!

Make sure to stop by and have fun shopping again with Kal :)

Designer Watch: Kal Rieman

April 26, 2012 By lionesquemedia Leave a Comment

This fashion industry brings in so many different talented people. New York in particular is filled with millions of people chasing their dreams to make it big in fashion. Only a handful of those people really have lasting power now a days and I believe I have come across one of that bunch that we will be talking about for a long time!

Kal Rieman is a designer that makes me envy every girl because they get the opportunity to wear her stuff! A Cleveland native, designer Cally Rieman took an unusual route to get to wear she is today. Graduating with a degree in East Asian Studies and Political Science, her interest in fashion developed while on a study program in Taiwan where she taught English to the owner of a textile manufacturing and marketing company. Cut to 2009, and many years of fashion design school and working for other designers, Cally created her own designer label, Kal Rieman.

Her collection reminds me of some of fashion’s biggest designers right now. The collection has sophistication similar to that of Jil Sander and Celine, edginess like Yigal Azroüel, with a hint of romance like Lanvin. Complete fashion overload! Her collection consists of amazingly tailored separates and overcoats, washed silks and draped knits. This collection is perfect for that tough woman who still wants to keep her femininity.

Her first pop-up shop will be opening in May and I literally can’t wait to see this collection in person, and I expect to see all of you there too! Here are some images of her current collection and a sneak peak of whats to come.

Preview her Spring 2012 collection now , then come check it out at RSPOP at 501 Lexington Avenue, New York NY, running May 2nd through the end of the month!

RSPOP… NYC’s Newest Hotspot

April 5, 2012 By lionesquemedia Leave a Comment

The corner of 47th and Lex was overflowing Thursday night as the opening reception party for N:F:P and GUAM Beauty Mud kicked off at RSPOP and RSPOP + at the Roger Smith Hotel. Lines gathered around the block as guests waited to check out the Italian beauty brand and modular designs from N:F:P.

GUAM’s space was instantly packed as press, bloggers, and customers came in to check out this Italian cellulite removal secret. All the women (and a few men) in the room were shocked to see an anti-cellulite mud that actually works! Jessica Nelson, the U.S Representative of GUAM Beauty Mud, said that before she worked for the company she loved the product so much that since she wasn’t able to purchase the product in the U.S, she went out and searched all over the city for the ingredients and became a mad scientist trying to make this product. You won’t have to go through all that trouble because GUAM is now in the U.S for the next month! For such a great price you can give yourself a spa treatment and get rid of a few problem areas while you’re at it!

New Form Perspective, aka N:F:P’s store was also the place to be last night! Everyone including myself were completely blown away by the collection! The second we all found out that a majority of the pieces in the collection could be worn in multiple ways we needed to see it in action! Gail Travis, the designer of N:F:P, gave personal tutorials on how to wear each garment. There were also really cool videos in the store that also showed us how to wear each convertible piece. My personal favorite was the Wrap Pant that can be converted into a shrug! First they are a very chic wide leg knit pant. Then with a few wraps and a snap they become a skinny pant. Finally with a throw around your shoulders and a couple snaps later you have a gorgeous shrug! All I know is Miss Travis needs to make a Men’s collection so I can be a part of this New Form Perspective!

If you are into fashion or beauty RSPOP and RSPOP+ are the places to be this month!

The next brand Guam Beauty Mud, Europe’s best selling anti-cellulite beauty brand. Guam is finally invading the U.S and starting it off with a bang! At their party will complementary special wines curated by new celebrity wine of the month club, WinesbyWives.com created by Real Housewives of Orange County stars Vicki Gunvalson and Tamra Barney who will also be appearing at the Opening Reception Party for the brand, as well as snacks provided by Popchips!

Full House at The Artisan Bazaar Opening Reception!

March 22, 2012 By lionesquemedia 1 Comment

If you weren’t at The Artisan Bazaar’s Opening reception party last night at The Chelsea Market, then you missed out on a GREAT event!

The new pop-up shop was packed with shoppers and amazing new talented designers, makers and curators as they all sipped on wine and ate delicious hors d’oeuvres. As you entered the space, you were instantly welcomed with the scents of Monkey Barsoaps, a collection of soaps made from all natural, hand made, vegan friendly oils and colorants to create a unique bath experience! The smell was so aromatic that you HAVE to stop by and pick up a bar or two (at a great price too!). And for all you dog lovers, across from Monkey Barsoaps is Barkey’s New York. Barkey’s New York is a great place to give your dog a taste of luxury with a Christian LouBarkin heal chew toy, or a Chanel inspired carrying case! There are such cute things for your dog, no matter what the dog’s size.
If you are a jewelry junkie, as it seemed most of the guests were last night, there are amazing jewelry collections from handmade jewelry designers Judy Kaye Jewelry, and Bara Boheme Jewelry. Judy’s collection has a variety of pieces of leather and vintage beaded bracelets that can also be worn as necklaces as well as rings. Three things for the price of one! A must have for your jewelry box. Bara’s jewelry was really cute silver pieces with semi precious stones. She had very unique rings and cuffs as well as simple every day necklaces using very pretty stones.

One of the stars of the show for us was Humble Chic, a curated collection of chic wearable and affordable clothing for women. The Humble Chic space was constantly packed and the customers LOVED the clothes. There were cute summer dresses and light summer sweaters that every girl would love. Definitely a must see at The Artisan Bazaar. For the little girl shoppers, they would love the cutesy reversible dresses by Patricia Gambis Handcrafted. With girly prints and fits these dresses will be every little girl’s favorites!

These brands were all some of our favorites, but there are many more designers, makers and vendors at The Artisan Bazaar NYC for you to check out. Let us know what your favorite was! The Artisan Bazaar will be at The Chelsea Market through April 1st so definitely check it out!

Also, check out some images from the Opening Reception Party

Archiving Fashion

March 12, 2012 By lionesquemedia Leave a Comment

The New York Public Library and The Special Collections & FIT Archives of the Fashion Institute of Technology Library have joined forces to bring us an online archive: André Studios 1930-1941: Fashion Drawings & Sketches in the Collections of the Fashion Institute of Technology and the New York Public Library. The project includes more than 5,000 original drawings.

“In the 1930s, André Fashion Studios operated as a subscription-based sketch firm in the garment district. It sold fashion drawings to manufacturers in the United States and Canada to aid production, and over time, the library and F.I.T. ended up with separate parts of the studio’s work.” Many decades later, Susan Chute, the former supervising librarian of the Mid-Manhattan Library Picture Collection realized that FIT’s collection of drawings and the NYPL’s didn’t overlap and this is how the project began.

The archive is very easy to use and if you are studying fashion or are simply just interested in learning fashion history, you can find the archive here: http://andrestudios.nypl.org/

Girl Scouts of the 21st century

March 8, 2012 By lionesquemedia Leave a Comment

Looks like the days are soon to be gone when you hear a knock at your door and as you open it you see that little girl in the green hat selling you what are quite possibly the best cookies ever made. The Girl Scouts of America will now be opening up pop-up shops all over New York City to sell their cookies. Since it is hard for these girls to go door to door in the city with strict apartment regulations, these girls have come up with a great way to sell their product. With a shops opening in each of NYC’s boroughs, everyone will be able to grab, or should I say stock up on, all their favorite cookies. At $4 a box I am definitely sure to grab a couple boxes of Tagalongs (my personal favorite)! The shops open on March 14 and run until the 5th of May, plenty of time to make multiple visits to support the Girl Scouts of America. I expect there to be long lines at each of these locations so stock up while you can!

If you can’t wait for these shops to open, download the Girl Scout Cookie Locator app on your Iphone, or Ipad! It will tell you where you can find Girl Scout Cookies in your neighborhood. Best thing of all, this app is FREE! You can also see which cookie is best for you (even though I’m sure we already know which ones we love). To top it off, they give you different recipes you can use these cookies in. I know what I am doing this weekend! How about you?
