Virtual Art in your not so Virtual Home

Just yesterday I was browsing online for a nice painting to hang over my dining room table but the problem was that I kept closing my eyes trying to imagine what it would look like in my home. Well, I’m glad to say that with the help of the OverstockArt app I can now see exactly how any painting will look anywhere in my apartment!

To simply explain how it works, you open up the app and select the piece of art you’re interested in. Once that is selected you click on ‘View on Wall’ which lets you hold your phone up to the wall where you’d like your painting to be. This gives you a spot on view of how this art will look in its new home! How cool is that?

This app is for all New Yorkers but especially for those who can never seem to make it anywhere on time. Just download the app and you can see when the next train will arrive depending on the line and stop that you’re in! But one of the coolest features the app offers is the ability to select your favorite stations so they’re always available at the touch of a button.

But that’s not all. The app informs you of any delays or service changes going on and it also gives you access to the full MTA Subway map!

So I’m sorry to inform you all but now you have no excuse for being late!

Neiman Marcus joins our iPhones

When we visit our favorite stores for a nice day of shopping, one of the things that makes it all the more enjoyable is finding a friendly, joyful and helpful sales associate. Neiman Marcus must be on to us because they are testing an iPhone only app that gives us just that…a personalized shopping experience with the sales associate of our choice.

“The new app NM Service is being tested in four stores this spring-Dallas, San Francisco, Austin, Texas and Palo Alto, California.” To break it down, the customer downloads the app and signs up for the service. In each store location sensors will be installed at specific entry points throughout and when a customer passes by these entry points, the app loads and prompts it to act.

When the app has loaded, the customer’s favorite sales associate (who is chosen by the client) gets notified to offer assistance. The app will also give the option of marking your favorite products, make appointments or leave messages for associates. One of the most exciting features of the app is that you will be able to scan QR codes on signs throughout the store in order to unlock the latest trends and product information.

Keep an eye out for the release of NM Service if you’re a Neiman Marcus regular or if you’re just interested in a more “private and luxurious” shopping experience.

Shopping Experience of the Future with Me-Ality

Have you ever spent hours upon hours roaming the racks at your neighborhood mall or favorite stores yet somehow manage to walk out with nothing on hand?

This has happened to me one too many times and if you’ve ever been shopping then I’m sure you also find yourself nodding “yes” to this question.

The people at Me-Ality probably had a few bad shopping experiences of their own because they’ve created the brilliant Me-Ality “dressing room”.

Basically, it’s a new technology where you step into the Me-Ality “dressing room” and you quickly get a 10 second full-body scan that uses low-power radio waves. The scanner captures 200,000 measurements which then allow it to provide you with a personalized shopping guide offering you the best fit, style, size and brand of jeans and pants suited specifically for your body. For the time being, Me-Ality is only offering suggestions for jeans and pants but soon other clothing items will be added to the list.
